United States, California, Pasadena - 11/04/2020 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Max Lehfeldt, MD, the Director of Teleos Plastic Surgery and Radiance Spa Medical Group, says having a fully accredited outpatient surgery facility along with new scheduling protocols and strict safety precautions can minimize the risk of potential coronavirus exposure for individuals who are considering plastic surgery and cosmetic enhancement.

Pasadena, CA – With the COVID-19 pandemic still prevalent among virtually all areas of the United States, numerous businesses and organizations have made a variety of necessary adjustments in order to continue to provide individuals with the services they need. Practices in the field of plastic surgery and aesthetic enhancement are no exception. Dr. Max Lehfeldt, the Director of Teleos Plastic Surgery and Radiance Spa Medical Group in Pasadena, says it is perfectly understandable for people to wonder if it is safe to obtain any kind of surgical or non-surgical cosmetic treatment during these very challenging times. He notes that, as long as practices are taking extraordinary precautions, following guidelines from public health authorities, and implementing new processes and procedures designed to minimize the risk of exposure to dangerous pathogens such as the coronavirus, safety in these environments can be greatly enhanced and individuals can successfully receive the treatment they desire.

During the early months of the pandemic lockdowns, many plastic surgery practices across the country had to either significantly limit the types of service they were able to provide or temporarily close their doors altogether. Interestingly enough, there were times throughout this period that Google reported dramatic increases in the number of searches for the term “plastic surgery”—during a single week in April, the increase was an astonishing 67%. Dr. Lehfeldt explains that, while the demand for plastic surgery and non-surgical medical spa treatments seemed to still be thriving, the safety and health of patients are always his top priority. Before reopening, he wanted to be sure that his practices were employing strict new precautionary measures that limited the risk of potential exposure to the virus and gave his patients peace of mind that his team had their best interests at heart. Today, both Teleos Plastic Surgery and Radiance Spa Medical Group have been fully open for several months. While certain changes and modifications have been made in terms of how the practice operates, Dr. Lehfeldt says these adjustments ultimately heighten the safety of care to an even greater degree and let individuals know that his practice is committed to exercising caution with all aspects of their health.

Dr. Lehfeldt utilizes many of the recommendations laid out by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Centers for Disease Control, and other state and federal health agencies as the template for his enhanced safety precautions. One of the major safety advantages at the practice was already in place: Dr. Lehfeldt’s outpatient surgery center. The facility is fully accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF) and is bound to adhere to extremely high standards of sterilization, disinfection, and cleanliness. To provide an even greater layer of precaution, only one patient at a time (one case per day) will be treated in the surgical suite, and Dr. Lehfeldt will serve as the only operating surgeon at the facility, which essentially provides patients with a one-on-one “concierge” surgical team.

Some of the other major steps Dr. Max Lehfeldt and his team at Teleos Plastic Surgery and Radiance Spa Medical Group have taken to minimize the risk of potential exposure to the coronavirus include:

  • HEPA filtration systems strategically placed throughout the offices
  • The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all staff members
  • Social distancing and face mask requirements while in the office environment
  • An outside reception kiosk to provide temperature checks and COVID-19 questionnaires for all patients who enter the office
  • Hand sanitizer at various locations around the office
  • New scheduling protocols to limit the number of people in the office at one time

Dr. Lehfeldt notes that these measures are just a few of the many new systems he has put in place to mitigate risks at his practices. He says individuals who are thinking about undergoing surgical or non-surgical cosmetic enhancement and are concerned about the safety of obtaining those procedures during the pandemic should be sure to thoroughly research the practice they are considering to determine the level of enhanced precautions it is taking. If there are any questions about safety measures or concerns of any kind, Dr. Lehfeldt says current and prospective patients should never feel hesitant to contact the practice and make sure they are addressed before visiting the office.
