  Uruguay, Montevideo - 05/13/2020 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Maria Laura Canepa, Residency, Relocation, Immigration Advisor and CEO at Mobility LC, was recently selected as Empowered Woman of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). Her exemplary role as a female business professional in a male dominated industry displays her influence, capability and proficiency. 

Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few women are chosen for this distinction based on their years of experience, professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities and contributions to their communities. With innovation and compassion, these women empower others to reach their goals, while creating change for future generations. 

The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami, stated “Choosing Maria Laura for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make.  She is detail-oriented, relatable and shows leadership in every endeavor she takes on. With her guidance and capabilities, she is a phenomenal resource. As an International Relations Professional with over 15 years of experience, Maria Laura has proven herself as an expert in the field. She has demonstrated success not only as an Immigration Advisor, but as a respected leader and voice when dealing with the immigration process.  Her areas of expertise include but are not limited to Residency, Relocation and Citizenship processes. Maria Laura launched her career serving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, and spent nearly a decade as an integral part of a Multinational American Company related to the Travel Industry where she worked her way up to overseeing a team of 72 skilled specialists.  Laura also had experience in the immigration sector of a major Uruguayan Law firm. She is fluent in Spanish, English, French, Portuguese and Italian. Utilizing all her skills she began to create Mobility LC.  

Mobility LC offers International Migration Services from Uruguay to the world.  Mobility LC guides people who are moving to Uruguay for their new home or for employers bringing employees to the country, they help with the relocation and immigration process. Employment –Based Immigration, Family-based Immigration, temporary work visa application, green card and citizenship application.   

Maria Laura earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the Lycée Français of Montevideo and she was awarded a scholarship to attend a year of studies at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2003 she was the first Uruguayan participating in the program who was recognized with the William A. Watt Memorial Award for promoting international understanding, goodwill and peace furthering the spirit of unity and accord among nations. In 2008 she completed a degree in International Affairs from the Universidad de la Republica (UDELAR) back in her home country.  She completed a Master’s Program in International Commerce from the PostGraduate European Institute (IEP) and Escuela de Negocios de Madrid.  She is a Certified NLP Practitioner by the NLP Institute of Uruguay, a Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) and Certified Travel Associate (CTA) by the Travel Institute, USA.

Maria Laura volunteers as a French Teacher at a Rural Public School in Uruguay. She teaches the language to kids from ages 3 to 11. She also is passionate for the Arts and loves acting. She has studied Film and Acting since she was 10. She has performed in diverse advertisements around the world. In 2018, she presented her first short film at the Cannes Film Festival. Last year, she attended William Esper Studio in New York. The last ad she acted on in 2020 was selected as Ad of the Day by Adweek.  

Throughout her remarkable career, Maria Laura has received awards, accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. This year she will receive the Empowered Woman Award on stage at the magnificent Plaza Hotel in New York City and is also being considered for an exclusive interview on TIP Radio by the International Association of Top Professionals.  In 2019 she was featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and was named Top Immigration Advisor of the Year by IAOTP.  

Looking back, Maria Laura attributes her success to her perseverance, mentors she has had along the way, particularly her parents, and staying passionate in all her business endeavors.  When not working, she enjoys volunteering, acting, traveling, astrology, astronomy, and spending time with her friends and family. For the future, she hopes to continue to make a difference in people’s lives any way that she can.
