[DAYTON, OH, February 21, 2020]

Following his IPPY silver medal-winning book, Racial Realities and Post-Racial Dreams, Dr. Julius Bailey, professor of philosophy at Wittenberg University (Springfield, Oh), has partnered with Broadview Press once again to publish Racism, Hypocrisy, and Bad Faith: A Moral Challenge to the America I Love. This timely new book discuses the current state of hypocrisy and mistrust in the American political system, especially as these affect ethnic minority and low-income groups.

A frequent guest on radio shows as a social critic and education advisor, Bailey is often sought to speak at colleges, prisons, and community organizations and has been interviewed on CNN, Fox, BET, and ABC Nightline.

In powerful and inspiring prose, Bailey writes with a voice well informed by current events, empirical data, and philosophical observation. In his new book, Bailey looks at the causes and consequences of the Trump presidency and applies his passionate yet astute analysis to many of the most pressing issues facing America in 2020, such as hate speech, gerrymandering, the dangers of symbolic patriotism and America’s relationship with the gun.

“Julius Bailey is one of the most original and courageous philosophers of his generation. In this powerful text, we once again see his unique ability to wed his sharp analysis and philosophical acumen to our American contemporary crises!” —Cornel West, author of Race Matters

With racial tensions ramping up in advance of the next election, the publication of Bailey’s new book at the start of Black History Month could not be more timely.
