OhMD, a Texting App for Doctors, Raises $1.2M Seed Round

OhMD, a portfolio company of Blueprint Health Accelerator in NYC, announced today that it has closed a USD 1.2 million Seed funding round led by Eideard Venture Capital.

OhMD allows healthcare professionals and practices to communicate via secure text messaging with colleagues and patients. More than 1000 hospitals and physician practices nationwide use OhMD to streamline daily communication with colleagues and patients. The platform significantly improves the patient experience while simplifying complicated communication for doctors.

The OhMD app on iOS, Android, and Web, is free to use for any physician or healthcare professional to communicate with colleagues and patients in a HIPAA-secure way. Healthcare professionals using SMS or other non-secure solutions to text message are at risk of a HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) violation. A single violation could mean a $50,000 fine for each instance of a healthcare provider caught texting patient related information.

OhMD is used by patients and doctors for:

Doctor-to-doctor secure texting
Patient-to-practice secure texting
Appointment reminders and follow-up
Patient reported outcomes
Electronic health record (EHR) integration
Telephone call, phone tag, and voicemail replacement
Patient education

Eideard Venture Capital led the seed round. The company and its affiliated entities are also investors in Marathon Health. The Eideard Group represents, among others, the families of the founding members of IDX Systems Corp., a patient records and medical billing software company acquired in 2005 for USD 1.2 billion.
