Tampa, FL. -Amazon is scheduled to release the next book by renowned author and martial artist Jim Arvanitis entitled Combat, Conditioning, and Collective Wisdom in November 2016. In this book, Arvanitis will go into more depth about how to apply the ancient mixed martial art of Greek pankration to a variety of real-world situations.
Arvanitis is widely considered the father of modern-day Greek pankration, which he has developed and promoted through an extensive repertoire of training videos, books, and magazine interviews. Other publications include The First Mixed Martial Art: Pankration from Myth to Modern Times, Game of the Gods: the Historical Odyssey of Greek Martial Arts, and most recently The Unchained Combat Sport of Ancient Greece.
Pankration is characterized by a mix of techniques such as grappling and stand-up and ground combat, borrowed from other styles and methods to create a totality of skilled combat . According to Black Belt magazine: "For thirty years, Jim Arvanitis has been the leading pioneer of Greek pankration and the concept of integrated combat skills. It is because of innovators like him that martial artists everywhere can appreciate the value of all styles in addition to cross training in both striking and grappling techniques, for it was pankration that set the standard for combat sports in the Old World."
