Eradicating the School to Prison Pipeline: Saving Our Sons from Despair

What happens when an Internationally Renowned Speaker Dr. William “Flip” Clay, introduces Empowerment Strategies to Reduce Mass Incarceration? National Award winning speaker Dr. William “Flip” Clay answers these questions and more! Dr. Clay is excited to announce the official launch of the Empowerment Strategies to Reduce Mass Incarceration National Tour.  This dynamic, creative, innovative two and half hour presentation includes music, videos, role plays, visual aids, and engaging hands-on audience interaction.

The pre-launch was in Charlotte, North Carolina in February 2017. One audience member, Vivian Stuart, stated, “I was very impressed with the dramatic, real-life presentation and lecture by Dr. William “Flip” Clay.’  When Dr. Clay entered the room dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit the reality set in. The audience was spellbound.  His video, “Locked Up,” made it clear to the youth what was at stake.  The youth who were present listened carefully throughout the presentation.  You can feel the love and concern he has for our youth. I’m sure the youth felt it as well.”

According to the Census data from 2014, Black male high school dropouts were in prison than employed. During this period, the status dropout rate declined from 9.0 to 5.2 percent for White youth; from 13.2 to 7.4 percent for Black youth; and from 32.4 to 10.6 percent for Hispanic youth. The Sentencing Project estimates 1 in 3 Black Men will spend time behind bars during their lifetime, compared with 1 in 6 Latino Men and 1 and 17 White Men.
