The creators of HandsFree French are thrilled to announce the global launch of their interactive, streamlined language learning app for iOS devices.

The team at HandsFree French call their platform “the future of language education” because it offers features and techniques that haven’t been seen before but will become standard.  As the world’s first fully voice controlled language learning app, HandsFree French makes it possible for users to truly multitask and interactively learn a new language while they’re driving down the road.

HandsFree French is a language app like no other.  Combining voice control, active recall, metacognition, spaced repetition, immediate feedback and the latest advances in cognitive science - HandsFree French offers an effective, streamlined experience.  Unlike other apps, users aren’t forced to type out words or move word blocks into order.  Unlike other audio programs or podcasts, the interactive process ensures the learner's mind does not wander.

Users learn by hearing the language first, the same way babies learn language.  When HandsFree French says a word or phrase, users respond; if they don’t know the answer, the user says “I don’t know” - and the app replies with the correct translation.   When they know a translation, users can say it, or speak a score to grade how well they know it. Higher scores result in the app moving more quickly past the things users already know. This strategy makes it possible for HandsFree French to focus on the material users are still learning.

HandsFree French adapted language learning to the age of technology, enabling people to quickly become proficient enough to understand television in French. “We created a learning tool that's very well suited to a driving commute” says developer Jacinta Saunders. “You learn on your drive to work and reinforce the knowledge on the drive home.  Spaced repetition means you don’t forget what you've learned and within weeks people can understand over 70% of the language.
