MINNEAPOLIS, MN - 05/12/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Among social change agents are educators. They have been at the forefront in social transformation, one student at a time. In many urban and inner-cities across the globe, educators are faced with naked challenges such as how to close the academic achievement gap for students of color. Now, more than ever, educators can buy Minority Outcry online and find out student-driven insights, closing the achievement gap for minority learners.

“Minority Outcry, an important book, calls on educators to open their eyes and empower their students,” says Harry Boyte, a senior scholar at Augsburg College and the architect of the Sabo Center for Democracy and Citizenship. “To achieve goals like racial justice and fairness, the solution is education which focuses on agency.”

This book helps school administrators, teachers, counselors and school board members to better understand and serve underprivileged students. “It is indeed an important and compelling story strengthened by the multiple stories,” says Mere Berryman, an associate professor at the University of Waikato. With practical tips, minority groups will drop blaming and start negotiating with other school stakeholders for better relationships. It provides change agents in the school system with practical tips to empower underperforming students, closing the achievement gap and reducing dropout rates.

Minority Outcry costs $8.99 (paperback) and $2.99 (electronic) and is available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble bookstores. For more information, educators can call (763)269-9302.
