NEW YORK CITY, NY - 06/08/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

In a day and age where information is pass along in seconds and people can have it literally in their fingertips. It’s extremely hard to believe that a media blackout of a news worthy subject would be avoided or hardly mentioned in major TV networks. This is especially true when you have the support of local politicians at major rallies with attendance in the thousands in the middle of Manhattan. However that is the case when comes to the Spectrum Strike. What? You didn’t even know there was a spectrum strike well that’s the topic of the press release. First lets give credit to those newspapers and networks that have shed some light on this strike. Like the Daily News and New York’s WPIX TV channel 11.

The Daily News, “Striking union workers flooded a busy Manhattan Street Wednesday to hold a raucous rally outside the headquarters of Spectrum-Time Warner Cable. Whistles, horns and chants filled E. 23rd St. in Gramercy for several hours as worker expressed their unhappiness with ongoing contract talks. Spectrum-Time Warner Cable and the union that represents its field technicians — International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 3 — have been trying to reach a deal since the strike began March 28. IBEW Local 3 said it walked out of talks over issues with employer contributions to the workers’ health care, pensions and other benefits”. By Ginger Adams Otis. On May 13 another article on the Daily News Matt Damon took a photo with a Local 3 Union member photo by The Daily News

The Brooklyn Daily Eagle.  Frustrated Charter/Spectrum Employees Feel Threatened by a Contractor’s Comments By John Alexander
The strike goes on for the Charter/Spectrum employees who continue to march outside the Time-Warner building in Brooklyn. Since March 28, the employees, represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union 3, have been trying to negotiate a new contract. Charter Communications bought Time Warner Cable (TWC) for $55 billion in May 2015 and renamed it Spectrum.

The Queens Tribune BY COUNCILMAN RORY LANCMAN “Last week, I joined IBEW Local 3 on the picket line here in Queens to stand in solidarity with workers demanding a fair contract from Charter Communications and their subsidiary, Spectrum-Time Warner Cable. After working without a contract since 2013, Local 3, which is headquartered in my council district, decided at the end of March that enough is enough and went on strike”.
So this is the question why aren’t the major networks like CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox Networks covering this. So is there an organized effort about this strike to keep under the radar? Is this legal? If so who behind it? Just these three questions will lead to many more. Can we continually go on and allow this to happen right before our eyes. We have to make someone accountable for his or her actions or lack of. Union members themselves have tweeted to Anderson Cooper, Lisa Evers, Palma Annabel, Joy V Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Maher, Sen. Sanders, Kelly Ripa, Sarah Silverman to name a few. So we close this press release with “Is there a TV Media Black Out in New York when it comes to this subject and why?
