Gerald Peters selected as Top Consultant of the Year in the Mental Health Field for 2017 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)!

Gerald Peters served at the Ministry of Health in the Department of Public Health for 38 years. He is now a Consultant in that field which includes research in Mental Health. He was selected as "Top Consultant of the Year in the Mental Health Field" for 2017 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

With having almost 4 decades of professional experience in both the public and private sector of the Mental Health System, Gerald has certainly proved himself as an extraordinary professional, and expert in the field.  Gerald is a dynamic, results-driven leader who has demonstrated success not only in the Ministry of Heath, but he also wrote the Who-Aims Report for the Mental Health System for Trinidad And Tobago, which has been used as a model on how to effectively deal with issues throughout the Caribbean.  Gerald is currently working as a consultant for both Corporate and Governmental bodies, and his key responsibilities include; Customer Service; Microsoft Office; Research; Public Speaking; Strategic Planning; Teaching; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Word; PowerPoint; and Event Planning.

Throughout his illustrious career, Gerald has been recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession and has been a sought after speaker.  In 2016 he was selected by the Worldwide Association of Notable Alumni as Outstanding Professional of the Year and selected for 2017 by the International Association of Top Professionals as “Top Consultant of the Year in Mental Health.”  Gerald is a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) , and the holder of a bachelor of Arts Degree in History and social Sciences from the University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine Campus; and a Master of Public Health Degree (MPH) from UWI, Jamaica, Mona Campus. He also pursued post graduate studies in Epidemiology at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia USA, which qualified him to serve as a World health Organization Consultant for Life. Gerald has also worked as the First National Epidemiologist for (Dutch) St. Maarten.

Looking back, Gerald attributes his success to his countless hours of research, his passion and love for helping people and to his positive energy and attitude.  He says his work is never finished and the best has yet to come.  For the future, he will continue to grow as a professional, continue his research, and continue to improve and change the lives of people any way that he can.
