The Cuban Musician and Creator Of Romantic Salsa Genre, LA PALABRA, Releases Today A New Single And Video "Estoy En Ti" From His Upcoming New Album

The creator of romantic salsa, La Palabra, returns to the scene with his new song entitled “Estoy En Ti” [I’m so into you], the lead single off his new album that is now on sale April 5th. With this new production, La Palabra, who in the mid-80’s introduced the public to the sensuality and new romantic style of salsa; a tropical genre that burst onto commercial level and unveiled great talent internationally for more than a decade, introduces us for the first time with this single a new fusion: romantic urban salsa.
“Estoy en ti” is the first taste of a new musical creation that this prodigious musician illustrates with this single and video that he released today.
Artistically known as La Palabra, the Cuban musician has had a both intense and enriching personal and professional history since leaving his country and arriving in New York at a very early age in the 60’s where he began his artistic career. He would later continue his journey in Detroit, where he notably shared the stage with the Jackson Five and won first place that year at the Michigan State Fair.
That was only the beginning of the series of events that would lead him to perform with the most recognized rhythm and blues bands, eventually attracting the attention of the great Stevie Wonder, who after hearing him perform invited him to move to Los Angeles, California to continue his artistic career with a new project. The arrival of La Palabra surprised the city after he introduced the concept of interpreting Salsa in a romantic style that changed tropical music instantly overnight.
However, while some members of the band members, achieved success with this revamping style and by signing lucrative and important recording contracts, La Palabra remained anonymous without gaining recognition for his musical contributions to the salsa genre. In his book “Journey Beneath my skin”, which is available on line he shares all of his career journey from the earliest years of childhood learning to play the piano in his native Cuba home, to his ups and downs where he is involved in a series of extreme circumstances and challenges that take him to prison for three years, ultimately hitting rock bottom. Nonetheless, he did not give up and from prison gave himself the task of learning the laws of the penal system that would allow him to represent himself in his legal defense and later help to achieve his freedom.
Without ever being overwhelmed with despair, La Palabra has made extraordinary personal and artistic transformations. With the motto that “In every adversity there’s the seed of equivalent Benefit”. The musician and singer has pushed forward and continues to innovate styles and contribute to the genre of tropical music. His music has appeared in several films and television series, including the Six Degrees and Ugly Betty series, among others.
His new album “Estoy En Ti”, produced by La Palabra himself and recorded in Los Angeles, will be available digitally and on a CD format on April 5th].
